    Recruitment fair, networking event set in New Haven

    NEW HAVEN — The Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce will hold a Nonprofit Board Recruitment Fair from 3-5 p.m. May 11, according to a release.

    The recruitment fair, to be held in the Hubert Campus Center of Albertus Magnus College, 700 Prospect St., “is intended for those interested in engaging with the nonprofit community and adding their perspectives and talents to board service,” the release said.

    “The Chamber created the Nonprofit Board Recruitment Fair after the nonprofits in our Nonprofit Resource Council identified the need to diversify their boards,” Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Garrett Sheehan said in the release. “Board service is a critical component of building stronger communities and addressing issues in the region, and we hope that this event will further support the important work nonprofits do.”

    According to the chamber, participating nonprofits include the APT Foundation Inc., Arts Council of Greater New Haven, Arts in CT, BHCare, Black Business Alliance, Boys & Girls Club of New Haven, Chapel Haven Schleifer Center Inc., Collab, Community Soup Kitchen, Concepts for Adaptive Learning,Connecticut Society for Human Resource Management, Connecticut Yankee Council Inc. Boy Scouts of America, Continuum of Care, Diaper Bank of Connecticut, Downtown Evening Soup Kitchen Inc., EIR Urban Youth Boxing Inc., Friends Center for Children, Hope After Loss Inc., Ice the Beef, International Festival of Arts & Ideas, Literacy Volunteers of Greater New Haven, Marrakech Inc., Master’s Manna, New Haven Port Authority, New Haven Pride Center, New Haven Promise, New Haven Reads, New Reach Inc., Parents’ Foundation for Transitional Living, Ronald McDonald House Charities of CT & Western MA, SARAH Inc., Shubert Theatre, The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven, The New Haven Symphony Orchestra Inc., The Salvation Army, Trauma Recovery, United Way of Greater New Haven, Wallingford Family YMCA, Whitney Center and Whittlesey.

    Following the recruitment fair, the chamber will hold a free Business after Hours networking event, also at the college, according to the release. Registration is available online at gnhcc.com, under “Events.”
