• Front of House Representative

    Front of House Staff are responsible for assisting the House Manager with ensuring a serious-fun vibe at all Festival programs and the safety of all audience members through excellent venue management and careful attention to protocol. 

     

    Primary Job Duties 

    • Work closely with a team of Front-of-House staff to support festival programming during Labor Day weekend 
    • Participate in paid training session(s) with House Management and Audience Services prior to Labor Day weekend 
    • Report to scheduled shifts on time and check in with House Manager to prepare for events and to receive any applicable assignments and updates 
    • Contribute to the creation of House Management reports submitted after events 
    • Provide customer service to audiences throughout events and act as an ambassador for the festival and a valuable source of information 
    • Assist with the management of patrons on the New Haven Green in a role assigned by the House Manager 
    • Responsibilities may include 
    • collecting donations in support of fundraising efforts 
    • checking reservations and providing access to reserved areas 
    • encouraging COVID safety according to guidelines 
    • maintaining the venue’s cleanliness 
    • reporting any safety and security concerns 
    • taking notes for the event report distributed by House Management

    • Maintaining a positive presence at all times, including in interactions with both Festival staff and audiences 
    • Keeping calm under pressure, maintaining flexibility within an ever-changing work environment, and a sense of humor 
    • Comfort operating several forms of technological tools 

     

    Requirements 

    • 1+ years of experience in Customer Service 
    • Familiar with and integrated into the diverse communities of New Haven 
    • Ability to work productively with a team 
    • Ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities with efficiency and poise 
    • Ability to develop and maintain relationships 
    • Ability to communicate in Spanish a plus 
    • Familiarity with ticketing systems (Spektrix, Tessitura, etc.) a plus 
    • Interest in the arts & performing arts a plus 

     

    Relationships 

    • Reports to the House Manager in the Marketing & Communications Department and works closely with the Audience Services Manager and Assistant Audience Services Manager 
    • Interacts with audience/patrons of the Festival, as well as operations, production, and security staff on-site 

     

    Classification: Part Time/Temporary 

    Engagement Period: Mid/Late August – Early September 2021 

    Mandatory TrainingLate August 

    Event Dates: September 4th and 5th  

    Compensation: $15-16/hr
