    Job Description
    Position Title: Associate, Business Development Operations
     
    Reports To: Head of Business Development
     
    Position Type: Full Time with benefits
     
    Compensation: Salary commensurate with experience
     
    Travel: Local travel (Greater New Haven area) only
     
    NOTE: This position requires some early morning and late-night commitments depending on event schedule.

    POSITION OVERVIEW:
    As part of the Business Development team, this person will work directly with GNHCC Business Development Executives to maintain membership/partnership information, identify new revenue opportunities and cultivate relationships with existing members.
     
    RESPONSIBILITIES:
     
    BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT:
    • Assist business development executives with pipeline identification and strategy for managing prospects through the sales cycle.
    • Research businesses and identify key contacts at local organizations. Engage new members and prospects via initial telephone calls.
    • Maintain "warm touch" with new members.
    • Identify engagement opportunities in the form of sponsorships, event participation, and organizational/volunteer engagement.
    • Maintain proactive outreach to ensure that benefits are used, and members receive value.
    • Facilitate the onboarding of new members. Includes ownership of introductory “Discover the Chamber” sessions.
    ONGOING SUPPORT:
    • Track member renewals to secure membership dues in a timely manner. Identify upgrade potential.
    • Identify opportunities to cross-sell other program offerings. Obtain sponsorship appointments for Chamber executives by calling prospective and current member companies.
    • Collaborate with Chamber teams to ensure that contracted/agreed deliverables are completed.
    • Manage investor and sponsor registrations for events.
    • Stay current with company products, services, resources, programs, policy and procedures to 
      accurately and timely support, promote and respond to customer and sales team inquiries and 
      issues; research information on products, competitors and prospects. 
    • Serve as staff liaison to Ambassador committee.
    • Perform other related duties or projects as assigned, sales campaigns, and training. Participate in
      company trade shows and events. This includes prep work and setup/breakdown of all events.
       
    REPORTING MANAGEMENT:
    • Produce weekly status and sales reports and present to management.
     
    REQUIREMENTS:
    • Bachelor’s degree and 4+ years’ experience in sales, member relations, or related field, preferably with a political or nonprofit group.
    • Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed. Attend evening and early morning functions relevant to position.
    • Existing connections to and knowledge of Greater New Haven regional business community a plus.
    • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communications skills.
    • Strong customer service, organization, time management, and ability to multitask.
    • Self-starter and the ability to work collaboratively on a team. Prior experience in sales a plus.
    • Experience using a database and proficiency in MS Office.
    • Must be comfortable making outreach calls to existing and prospective members.
    • Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
